Our Story

The Denton Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was chartered on December 5, 1959. Charter members were: 
Ann Barnett, Evelyn Cuthbert*, Jan Ebersole, Matilde Gardner*, Ruth Gibson*, Winette Hargrove, Marilyn Haynie, Anna Harriet Heyer*, Barbara Kelton, Lee McCray*, Marilyn McKinley*, Jean Mainous*, Patricia Morey, Velma Selby*, and Shirley Sheets.

The Denton Alumnae Chapter has always sought to work closely with the two local university chapters - Iota Theta (University of North Texas) and Iota Omega (Texas Woman’s University). The Alumnae Chapter offers help to them with scholarships, recruitment events and joint musicales.
